Cool...and Unbelievable. ... At Microsoft the whole Team, couldn't answer why this happened !
TRY IT NOW ,IT WILL NOT CREATE " CON " FOLDER
MAGIC #2
For those of you using Windows, do the following:
1.) Open an empty notepad file
2.) Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)
3 .) Save it as whatever you want.
4.) Close it, and re-open it.
MAGIC #3
Open Microsoft Word and type
=rand (200, 99)
And then press ENTER
Then see the magic...
MAGIC #4
Open notepad
type .LOG
Save the file in any filename you like
Close the file and open it again in notepad.
You will see the current time and date.

#1. CON, PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, LPT9, etc are Windows' reserved device names from the early days of DOS.
#2. A character encoding problem caused this error. Known to be Notepad misinterpret ASCI as unicode. Another phrase case this problem is "Bill fed the goats". This is known to be corrected in Notepad of Windows Vista.

hmmmm .. it says that con is reserved for some device ..???
weird .... since its without extension anyway ..
It proves one thig ... linux is not a stuid operating system ... hehehe ...

It's not impossible to make a folder name of CON ...make it from command prompt...U can make a folder in c partition...If you cant let me know I will show you how to creat it...tc
